Balcony Garden

Last year we had a strawberry plant named Darryl, a tomato plant named Hal, and a cucumber plant named Beezlebumber (his little vines kept reaching up and ensnaring Hal and dragging him down to...) that grew out on our balcony. We also had some flower things.

This year we're a little more bold. We have two tomato plants (Gimli and Legolas), two pepper plants (as yet unnamed), cucumber, onions, spinach, lettuce, beans, carrots, cantaloupe, parsley, some other herb (Emily now tells me it's oregano), and pumpkin plants (all as yet unnamed). Goodness...that seems like a lot when it's all written out. Our balcony is going to be crowded.

Just in case you aren't familiar with pumpkin plants, they can really stretch far. So be careful they don't "ensnare" anyone else :) Happy Gardening!

Yeah... the pumpkin is gonna take over the world. I would suggest you weave it along the edge... but if a pumpkin ends up growing on the outside, it won't be able to rest on anything and will break off before it can grow to a proper size. So... maybe make sure it lines the wall instead? Or grows in between all the other pots?

Also, it makes me very happy that you have named your plants. :D

It's almost like you two have been coached by Emily. She's said the same thing to me about the pumpkin plant.
