Lizzie stole Grandpa's hat
She looks like a bit of a punk in a couple of those. But then, in an un-punklike manner, she ate an otterpop and loved showing off her green tongue.

Ambition
I've been stealing a lot of posts from my sister Kate's blog. That's not going to stop now (but it will probably start shortly because she no longer has regular access to my daughter). In the meantime, here are some great pictures of Lizzie and a blow up pool.
Ambition, thy name is Lizzie:
After Dad stepped in and did his thing to help out, the fully inflated pool was ready for Lizzie to play in.

Croquet
We decided to play some croquet with Joe's family for a little bit of fun bonding. Lizzie gave it a try, but then got bored with the game.
In the end, as expected, Joe won it all (his sister Kate got second, and insisted on taking part in the glory of victory).

Success!
Emily passed her dissertation today. They want some minor revisions, but they always want some minor revisions.
I'm very proud of you, Emily. Great job!

And she's off
Lizzie and I dropped Emily off at the airport today. She's flying back to Michigan to defend her dissertation this coming Tuesday, so look for some good news to be posted here roundabout Tuesday afternoon. Just about every bureaucratic*/administrative pothole that could be hit has been hit in the road to her defense, but now it's coming together.
Good luck, Emily!
*That word and all its sundry formations is my arch-nemesis. Rare is the time I spell it correctly on my first pass.

Beautifully Sad
That's how my sister, Kate, described these photos of Lizzie she took:
On a less tragically stunning note, Lizzie's eyes really pop in this picture:
